THE SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR SUMMER PARTIES

Story by Kate Kilgour

Playing an afternoon showcase at indoor skateshop/gallery/hidden gem, The Baitshop,Dinosaur Bones pumped out indie rock and roll that infused the crowd with a mid-week pick-me-up. Following Tokyo’s Zoobombs, this Toronto five-piece performed aptly on top of a skate ramp, breathing hints of the good times summer will bring.

Recently signed to Dine Alone Records, they followed CMW with a trip to SXSW. Performing a playlist of enjoyable tunes, Dinosaur Bones lacked any memorable tracks that screamed single-potential. Perhaps resting on their laurels of being attractive, hip-looking dudes in a very supportive local industry, these guys have some musical fine-tuning to endure. They’ve got a good vibe and energetic stage-presence, and are traveling down a bright path, so I hope that their busy tour schedule proves productive. And you can be sure that their tunes will fit nicely into a schedule of backyard parties in July, for those looking for respite from the usual indie fare.
