We’ve had just about enough. We’ve seen enough snow, and heard enough about the terrifying lack of snow. The last six months have been dark, and the end couldn’t come soon enough. No fear, May is here! Spring, oh Spring, we’re so relieved you’ve finally come around. Now how to greet you?
The face this Spring season is sweet, simple and stripped down to the basics: it’s nude or nothing. Shimmering and textured neutrals allow your natural beauty to bloom, and are subtly glamorous, fresh, youthful and clean.
The Spring 2010 colour palette is texturized by gloss, shimmer or shine. Use your own skin tone as a guide and try a nude shadow with a slight shimmer or a neutral blush with a built-in highlighter to catch the light. A cream shadow with a hue that matches your eyelid will illuminate your eyes with a dewy shine . For lips, try light mauve, soft berry, or pink-tulip hued lipsticks with a matte finish. If you prefer a glossy lip, go ahead and indulge; just keep it soft and minimal. For bursts of colour, apply a lilac shadow or a pastel pink cheek, but keep the tone light and highlight only one facial feature. Finally, try to minimize your face make-up to allow your skin to enjoy the warmth of the weather and a breath of fresh air.
And what about your ‘do? Keep your hair healthy and go for a natural lightener. Spritz a side-swept braid with lemon juice before a day spent in the garden or reading in the park. Your hair will flow, curl and brighten itself in the sun without harsh dyes or chemicals. If your hair is already damaged, use a natural hair serum in damp hair to force moisture back into your parched follicles.
It’s simple to let your natural beauty shine through, and there’s no better time than the first fresh days of May.
